Jahrtausendturm Magdeburg
The Millennium Tower, at 60 metres high at the time of its construction the largest glued laminated timber structure in the world, was one of the main attractions of the 1999 Federal Garden Show (BUGA) in Magdeburg. The tower houses an exhibition on 6,000 years of human history and the development of science with many vivid, partly interactive displays and experiments.
The task consisted of developing a concept for the exhibition as a whole and deepening/implementing the concept on levels 1 and 2 of the aforementioned building as well as for an existing exhibition object/future theme.
Our concept for updating the exhibition responds to new perspectives of research in the field of the history of science. Through hierarchisations, emphases and constellations, it is expanded to include current perspectives and intercultural themes. This creates new perspectives, but also clearer connections. Content is prepared in such a way that it can be experienced and is informative for different levels of interest.
